Understand Roles and Permissions
Learn why two members may see different pages and how to grant access safely.
A role is a named set of permissions. Permissions can control whether a member sees a product area and whether they can create, view, update, delete, publish, or attach records in that area.
This means two members in the same company can have different navigation and actions. A missing button is often an access question, not a display failure.
Grant access safely
- Start with the smallest existing role that supports the person's job.
- Verify access by asking the member to complete a specific task.
- Avoid broad administrator access as a troubleshooting shortcut.
- Review both page access and the particular action permission.
- Keep at least one active company administrator who can manage IAM.
Diagnose a missing action
- Confirm the affected user and company workspace.
- Identify the exact page and action label.
- Compare the user's roles with someone who can perform the action.
- Ask an administrator to review the role's relevant permission.
- Sign out and back in after an approved role change.
